Folklore & Ethnomusicology Certificate

Certificate in Folklore and Ethnomusicology

The Certificate in Folklore and Ethnomusicology is designed for undergraduates interested in folk art, folklore, folklife, and ethnomusicology within their own areas of specialization, who are seeking additional training in preparation for graduate studies in the Arts & Humanities or work in both the public and private sector. This certificate allows students to appreciate and explore social diversity and inclusion as realized in the flow of social life and interpersonal communication; to address issues of social cohesion and social conflict as these are manifested in artistic performances deriving from tradition; to assess the scope of individual artistic expression in relation to community standards and expectations; and to document the formation of social constructions such as gender, ethnic and national character, and heritage.
