Named for Richard M. Dorson, every spring this series honors the Indiana University professor credited with establishing folklore studies as an academic discipline in the United States. Professor Dorson directed the Indiana University Folklore Institute for many years, beginning in 1956. He later chaired the Folklore department, until his death in 1981.
