This course introduces the popular beliefs, customs, material culture, and especially verbal art and oral traditions of Ireland, north and south. Topics include folk religion, supernatural legend and belief, holiday customs, observances surrounding the life cycle and death, historical legend and collective memory, political murals and parades.
