A partnership between the Indiana University (IU) Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology and the Department of Chinese Folklore Studies at Beijing Normal University (BNU), the International Folklore Studies Center coordinates collaborative activities including virtual and in-person research workshops and other scholarly events, joint teaching or research projects, student and faculty exchanges, and scholarly publication efforts. Established in 2021, the center builds on a long history of scholarly exchange linking these two leading centers for folklore studies scholarship.
The International Folklore Studies Center was established under a formal sub-agreement linking the IU College of Arts and Sciences and the BNU School of Chinese Language and Literature within a broader Primary Partnership Agreement between BNU and IU. The Center is Co-Directed by Jason Baird Jackson of the IU Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology and Yang Lihui of the BNU Department of Chinese Folklore Studies. For questions concerning the Center, please contact Jason Baird Jackson.
