Congratulations to Lydia Campbell-Maher and Micah Ling, Ph.D. candidates in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology, who have been named inaugural Graduate Pathways Fellows, in recognition of their academic success and professional aspirations!
Lydia specializes in public folklore and applied ethnomusicology. She received the fellowship for her position as the vice president of programs at ArtMix, an Indianapolis-based company that provides art classes, internships, and programs for people with disabilities. The company focuses on each participant’s abilities and interests, and fosters a supportive environment for people of all abilities to create together and socialize without barriers.
Micah is a material culture scholar, specializing in dress and textiles, and received her fellowship for her role as Michigan State University Museum Folklife Collections Fellow. The Michigan State University Folklife and Cultural Heritage Collections document the vernacular expression of aesthetics and meaning in everyday life and celebrates objects that display the material expression of identity, history, and memory by multiple groups around the globe.
